We calculate each room's heating and cooling load from its square footage, ceiling height, insulation, and window area. Homes with two-story foyers and large window walls gain more heat than standard rooms, so we measure those separately. Correct sizing prevents the unit from short-cycling (turning on and off repeatedly) and keeps indoor humidity under control.

Each indoor unit has its own thermostat. In a 2,500-square-foot two-story home, one central thermostat cannot keep the far bedrooms at the same temperature as the main floor. A mini-split gives each room its own setting.
Long duct runs leak heated and cooled air into attics and wall spaces before it reaches the room. A mini-split delivers air directly, with no duct loss.
A mini-split is a heat pump. It moves heat out of the house in summer and pulls heat from outdoor air in winter. Cold-climate models maintain heating output below 0°F, which covers Will County winters without a backup furnace.
